Over the past couple of months, we have been carefully keeping an eye on any developments involving the new. 2016 Mazda MX-5. And while there has been countless artists impressions and speculative renderings, today the company released the first official teaser image.
Ok, so right of the bat, you can’t really see anything. The entire car is covered under a massive cloth, so no details emerging just yet.
However, what we can see (sort of) is the shape of the much anticipated car. Mazda is adamant that the 2016 MX-5 will look nothing like the current model, so we are very keen to see what lies beneath the cloth.
Some details that have seen the light is that of the chassis, that will apparently be completely different than the current. Also, the 2016 MX-5 will feature an ‘revolutionized’ design of the current Kodo design language.
The new Mazda MX-5 will also be considerably lighter than the current model. Reports claim that the 2016 model will be up to 220 pounds (or 553 kilograms) lighter than the current.
The official unveiling is not that far away, luckily, Mazda has confirmed that they will finally unveil the 2016 MX-5 on the 3rd of September.
Until then, however, a grainy image of a car covered with a piece of cloth will have to do. Check it out below:
